The Shire is committed to building a strong community, and promoting and fostering a healthy and active community.

The Shire have adopted a Financial Assistance Funding Policy which provides an overarching framework for the Shire of Irwin to provide financial assistance to not for profit community based organisations, event organisers and individuals to support the promotion and development of social, economic, recreational, art and cultural projects that make a positive contribution to the quality of life within the Shire of Irwin.

Sundry Donations

Small grants up to $500 can be applied for at any time through a written request on a Sundry Application Form outlining details of how the funds will be utilised. The request will be processed within 14 days.

Waiver of Fees and Charges

All eligible requests for a Waiver of a Fee and Charge will be assessed at the discretion of the Chief Executive Officer (under delegated authority) as outlined within our Policy.

In cases where the request for Fee Waivers exceeds $1,000 the applicant will be advised to apply through the Community Assistance Scheme.

Travel Subsidy Assistance

Provides finanical assistance to Shire of Irwin residents who have been selected to participate in a national sporting event, or who receive a scholarship to the Mid West Academy of Sports.

Those receiving a scholarship to the Mid West Academy of Sports are eligible for membership and services worth up to $400 at the Irwin Recreation Centre. Council support to elite athletes through cash, memberships or services islimited to the value of $400 per athlete per year.

Community Assistance Scheme and Events (CASE)

The Shire of Irwin Community Assistance Scheme (CASE) aims to provide assistance to not for profit community based organisations, event organisers and individuals to support the promotion and development of social, economic, recreational, art and cultural projects that make a positive contribution to the quality of life within the Shire of Irwin.

The Community Assistance Scheme provides the framework for the Shire of Irwin to administer community sponsorship. This framework will ensure a consistent approach to all applicants who apply for assistance. 

Funding Rounds - Community Assistance Scheme (CASE)

CASE Funding will be open each financial year with applications being accepted throughout. Eligible projects must be completed by 30 June of the current financial year.

In completing an application, you will need to consider the strategic implications of your project and will need to refer to the Shire's Strategic Community Plan.

There are many Grants available each year to Community Groups and Not-For-Profit organsiations to assist with a variety of Projects and Events. From time to time, when grants become available we will endeavour to provide links to different Grants and funding bodies to assist you in locating financial assistance.

This month's grants include the following:

Lotterywest Grants - There are hundreds of different grants available from Lotterywest www.lotterywest.wa.gov.au/grants or ring them directly on 1800 655 270. Please speak with Lotterywest before sending in an application, as they can direct you to the most appropriate grant, assist with your application and most importantly, tell you if you are eligible to apply for funding.
