The Department of Home Affairs confirm eligibility to participate in a ceremony by providing the Shire with a conferral report following the departmental processing of your application The Shire will contact you to confirm when the next ceremony is being held.

Citizenship ceremonies

Citizenship ceremonies are conducted at the Shire. One of the most popular Citizenship ceremonies is held during the annual Australia Day celebrations on 26 January or on Citizenship Day 17 September.

Australia Day Citizenship Awards

Does anyone in your town make you proud?

Nominate an inspiring local community member or group today, for one of four awards fostering Australian pride and spirit.

The four award catagories are:

  • Citizen of the Year;
  • Citizen of the Year - Youth (under 25 years of age);
  • Citizen of the Year - Senior (over 65 years of age)
  •  Active Citizenship Award (to recognise a community group or event).

The awards are presented at the Australia Day Celebrations ceremony each year on 26 January.
