SHIRE OF IRWIN - A BRILLIANT BLEND

Firebreaks - Extension of Due Date

News

13 October 2021

In accordance with Section 18 (5) of the Bush Fires Act 1954, the Shire of Irwin is shortening the Restricted Burning Period. The current Restricted Burning Period of 15 October to 31 October will now be 22 October to 31 October (inclusive).

FIREBREAKS – now to be completed before Friday 22 October 2021

The changes to these dates are being applied due to slow field curing because of the wet winter.

Permits will be required from Friday 22 October 2021. These are available from the Shire of Irwin Office or from your local Permit Issuing Officer; it is recommended you call the Shire prior to trying to obtain a permit to ensure the appropriate personnel are available.

For burning carried out prior to Friday, 22 October 2021, please take the following precautionary measures:

  • Avoid burning in high wind conditions;
  • Ensure adequate clearing around burning off activities; and
  • Have firefighting appliances in place.

If you have any enquiries please contact the Shire Administration Office on 9927 0000 or your local Bush Fire Control Officer detailed in the Shire’s Fire Break Notice.
