Industry Engagement Forum

06 February 2023

Last week the Shire of Irwin hosted an Industry Leaders Forum in Perth that brought together State Government, industry leaders and other stakeholders to discuss the major economic growth occurring in Arrowsmith.

Shire President Mike Smith said consultation, collaboration and engagement between industry and government stakeholders was the key to realising these opportunities.

“With the amount of development proposed or currently underway in Arrowsmith and the surrounding area, it is critical that we have a clear and precise understanding of each project,” Cr Smith explained.

“We organised the Forum in collaboration with the State Government, to discuss the impacts the respective projects will have on our region and to ensure the significant benefits flow to our community and opportunities to local business.”

A positive outcome from the meeting was the establishment of the Arrowsmith Development Cluster, which will see industry work together cohesively to bring these projects to fruition.

“We will continue to work closely with industry and the Cluster to ensure they understand the importance of partnerships and being supportive members of our community,” Cr Smith said.

“This significant economic growth will not just benefit local business and workers but the community as a whole, that we hope will result in improvements to infrastructure and local resources.”

Thank you to the Deputy Premier the Hon Roger Cook MLA, The Member for Member for the Agricultural region, the Hon Sandra Carr MLC, former deputy Premier Eric Ripper and the MWDC for their contribution to the forum.
