Roadworks Notice

Members of the public are advised that as of 13 April 2014 resurfacing works will commence on the following roads as part of Council’s budgeted roadwork’s program;

Whelan Street

Plester Street

Armstrong Street

Short Street

Parker Street 

Traffic management will be supplied while this work is being carried out, so please note there may be some delays and we would appreciate your patience during this time.

Easter Rubbish Collection

All services (front Lift and Domestic) that would normally be completed on Friday,18April 2014 will be serviced on Saturday,19April 2014.

Easter Monday – Sunday Opening Times

All other dates/times as normal - General Transfer Station Hours: 

Monday               10.30am – 2.30pm            

Tuesday              10.30am – 2.30pm                        

Wednesday         10.30am – 2.30pm                        

Thursday             10.30am – 2.30pm                        

Friday                  10.30am – 2.30pm                        

Saturday              10.00am – 12noon

Sunday                10.00am – 1.00pm 

Newspaper Recycling

Old newspaper recycling is being carried out by the Lions Club, so bring your old newspapers to the Transfer Station, and assist with recycling within your town and help raise funds for the Lions Club at the same time.

Other Recycling Items

Some waste that is accepted free of charge are tree pruning, lawn clippings, aluminium cans, scrap metal, car batteries, household items which may be of use to somebody, wood suitable to be used for fire wood.

Burning Periods

Please be advised that the restricted burning period ends 30 April 2014. Should you wish to burn off prior to this date you will be required to obtain a burning permit from an authorised issuing officer.

Note that burning permits are not being issued in urban areas.

Street Light Fault Reporting

If you wish to report a faulty street light please call Western Power on 13 13 51 or visit Western Power’s website and complete the online report form. You will need to provide details of the location of the faulty light and the pole number if possible.

The Shire is required to follow the same procedure for reporting faults as the public so we encourage you to use this method to report any faults.

Easter Weekend Visitors Centre Opening Hours

The Dongara – Port Denison Visitors Centre and Library will be open over the Easter weekend during the following hours;

Good Friday                10am – 2pm

Easter Saturday          9am – 1pm

Easter Sunday            10am – 2pm

Story Time at the Library

The Dongara Public Library wishes to advise that Storytime will not be running during the School Holidays. 

Aquatic Facilities Needs Analysis

The Shire of Irwin is investigating the aquatic facility needs of the community, different ways these needs might be met and the feasibility of each identified option.  The Shire wants to know what you think is needed to improve community access to aquatic facilities for swimming, exercise, therapy and recreation. 

What are your highest priorities?

A Balanced View (ABV) Leisure Consultancy Services has been engaged to help facilitate this process and will be available to speak individually with members of the public at the following place and times: 

Venue: Irwin Recreation Centre, Ridley Street, Port Denison

Date:  Thursday May 1, 2014

Times: Drop in any time between 11am and 1pm or between 4:30pm and 6:30pm. 

Please note, this is a listening exercise whereby members of the public can drop in and spend a few minutes speaking to the consultant about what they think is needed.    If you are a representative of an organisation with an interest in aquatics, please contact Laurie Smith, Manager, of Recreation Services on 9955 9200 to organise a meeting with the consultant.
