Employment Vacancy - Building Surveyor

The Council is seeking someone who is reliable, enthusiastic and has a good knowledge of Building legislation. Additional qualifications as Environmental Health Officer would be an advantage. Reporting to the Manager Community Safety, the successful applicant will be an integral member of the Planning and Infrastructure directorate.

SALARY AND CONDITIONS

To attract the right people with a brilliant blend of skills, knowledge and experience, the Shire is offering a salary (Local Government Industry Award 2010) of up to $60,000 plus allowances and up to 14.25% superannuation. Other benefits and employment conditions will be discussed at interview.

The Shire of Irwin Recreation Needs Analysis Draft Report has been endorsed by Council for public comment.

We would like to invite interested parties to read the Draft Recreation Needs Analysis and provide feedback. This can be done in several ways;

Council Meeting Dates 2014

The Shire of Irwin wishes to advise of the following Council meeting dates for 2014. Amendments to the April and May dates were made by decision of Council at an Ordinary Meeting In February 2014.

 The 2014 Forum and Ordinary Meetings will be held in the Ocean Room, Irwin Rec Centre, Ridley Street, Port Denison commencing at 4:00pm in accordance with the following schedule;

Shire of Irwin Tidy Towns Sustainable Committee

The Shire of Irwin Tidy Towns Sustainable Communities Committee participated in the National ‘Clean-up Australia Day’ event on Sunday the 2 March 2014.

 We wish to thank all volunteers who gave up some of their time and participated.

In Western Australia 517 sites were registered, 38,684 people participated and 1,137 tonnes of rubbish was collected.
            
Thanks for helping to keep Australia beautiful.

YAC Movie Night

If you are between 12 – 17 years of age, get in quick to secure your ticket to the Irwin YAC’s Geraldton Movie Night Event – only 22 spots available!!

The movie night will be happening on Friday, 7 March 2014 with a bus departing the Shire of Irwin offices at 6.00pm.

‘Non-Stop’ is the movie being shown with the opportunity to get dinner before the movie starts at either KFC or the Fish & Chip shop.

To secure your spot, a fee of $15 is required to be paid in full to the Shire of Irwin offices (this fee covers only the movie ticket fee and transport costs, extra money for dinner, lollies and drinks will need to be provided by the parent / guardian).

Consent forms will also need to be received at the time of payment.

YAC Members Wanted

If you are aged between 12 – 17 years or are interested in addressing the needs of those within the 12 – 17 age group, get involved with the YAC.

The Shire of Irwin Youth Advisory Committee (YAC) is a group of people who are interested in the issues facing young people today – who get together to plan youth inspired and youth driven events and activities, and want to do something about them.

If you are interested in becoming part of the YAC or require more information, call Coralie Palmer, Manager Community Services at the Shire of Irwin on 9927 0000.

To ensure that the activities planned for the Youth of our community are what’s needed, then be the voice for future events and facilities.
