YAC Members Wanted

If you are aged between 12 – 17 years or are interested in addressing the needs of those within the 12 – 17 age group, get involved with the YAC.

The Shire of Irwin Youth Advisory Committee (YAC) is a group of people who are interested in the issues facing young people today – who get together to plan youth inspired and youth driven events, and activities, and want to do something about them.

If you are interested in becoming part of the YAC or require more information, call Coralie Palmer, Manager Community Services at the Shire of Irwin on 9927 0000.

To ensure that the activities planned for the Youth of our community are what’s needed, then be the voice for future events and facilities.

Tourism Development Plan (TDP)

The development of a strategic tourism plan will enable Council to take an integrated and co-ordinated approach, allowing for a long term focus of forward planning and providing an opportunity to develop strong partnerships and a shared vision between Council and local tourism stakeholders, guiding growth in tourism in the Shire of Irwin over the next five to ten years.

This is driven by the various strategies identified in our Community Strategic Plan, including;

1.3.1 Develop and implement a Tourism Development and Promotion Strategy

1.3.2 Partner and work with local businesses, state government agencies and other regional tourism organisations

1.3.3 To continue to fund, manage and grow the Visitors Centre.

As part of the TDP process, a workshop with Councillors and Shire management officers as well as a separate meeting with local tourism stakeholders were conducted by the consultants appointed to prepare the plan, Kirkgate Consulting. The outcomes from these workshops were used to develop the Draft TDP. This Draft TDP was then advertised for public comment from November 2013 through to 31 January 2014.

All submissions and feedback were considered to develop the final Tourism Development Plan 2013-2018 at an Ordinary Council Meeting on Tuesday, 25 February 2014.

A copy of the adopted Tourism Development Plan 2013-2018 can now be accessed from our website under Document Centre/General category.
