Local Government Election Results

The successful candidates in the 2013 Local Government Elections, held on Saturday 19 October were;

Bronwen Scott
Mark Leonard
Ian West
David Kennedy

Commiserations to John Leslie Rossiter and Robert McClurg.

Council and staff thank former Cr McClurg for the contributions he made to Council and the community.

Each elected member will hold a 4 year term (expiring 21 October 2017) following a formal declaration at the Council Meeting to be held this evening.

Special Meeting of Council 12 November 2013

At an Ordinary Council Meeting this evening, Council will consider holding  a Special Meeting on 12 November 2013 for the purpose of considering the adoption of the Annual Report 2012/13, the appointment of Council Committee delegates and the approval for the sale of surplus equipment.

Disposal of Surplus Equipment

Thank you to those who submitted offers in the sale of surplus equipment. Please be advised that these submissions are to be considered and adopted by resolution of Council—with a report expected to be prepared for Council at the Special Meeting scheduled for 8 November 2013.

Festival Fireworks and Dogs

We would like to remind residents that there will be fireworks held on Saturday evening, 26 October 2013 and suggest that you secure your dog(s) if they are likely to be affected.

Road Closures

Council wishes to remind everyone that the foreshore, along point Leander Drive will be closed to vehicles (from Hampton Street to Leitch Street) during the Festival on Saturday between 9:30am to 9:00pm.

Parking is available in the foreshore carparks to the north of Leitch Street, the main commercial fisherman’s carpark and Grannies Beach carpark.

Access to Southerleys and the Port Store is possible via Hampton Street.

7 Mile Beach Remedial Works—Complete

Coastal erosion remedial works at Seven Mile Beach is now complete and access to the beach has been restored. Thank you for your patience.

FREE TV and Computer Recycling

The Dongara Transfer Station is collecting unwanted televisions and computers for free on Saturday 16 November between 10am - 12pm and Sunday 17 November between 10am and 1pm ONLY. The drop off times are restricted to the times listed - charges will apply should you drop off your goods outside the specified period.

Seniors Week - FREE Quiz and Afternoon Tea

We invite you to attend a Seniors Quiz and Afternoon Tea on Thursday, 14 November 2013 at the Irwin Recreation Centre from 1pm - 4:30pm.

“National Seniors Week celebrates the valuable contribution made by the over 55’s to our community, and the Shire in partnership with the Irwin Autumn Centre invite you to this FREE EVENT.

There will be prizes throughout the afternoon.

Please register at the Shire of Irwin Office or the Irwin Autumn Centre. Afternoon Tea will be provided.
