Administration Trainee Information Session

The Shire’s Manager Corporate Services, Manager Recreation Services, Manager Tourism and Library Services and the Research and Projects Officer will be making themselves available for a short presentation and Q & A session to be held at 5.30pm on Thursday, 17 October in the Ocean Room at the Irwin Rec Centre. Attendance is recommended for anyone considering applying for the position in order to fully understand the role requirements. Finger Food will be provided, please contact Lauren Tunbridge to register your interest.

Community Perceptions Survey

The Shire of Irwin would appreciate all residents completing and returning the 2013 Community Perceptions Survey that is being mailed out this week. The survey will assist the Shire to consider and develop strategies to meet the communities needs.

Surveys are being sent to and processed by an independent company, CATALYSE® and will remain anonymous.

Should you complete and return your survey by the closing date, 8 November 2013, you will go in the draw to win one of three gift cards.

Please don’t return your surveys to the Shire office—they need to be mailed in the reply paid envelopes provided.

Seven Mile Beach Remedial Works

The Shire has begun remedial works at Seven Mile Beach which may temporarily affect access. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

Disposal of Surplus Equipment

Thank you to those who submitted offers in the sale of surplus equipment. Notifications will go out this week to everyone who submitted an offer.

Local Government Elections

Election Day is this Saturday, 19 October 2013  at the Irwin Rec Centre. Please be reminded that this is a postal election, therefore votes are to be completed, placed in the ballot envelope, then in the  Electors Certificate (which you must sign to validate) and returned to the Shire office by 4:30pm Friday 18 October 2013.

If you have lost or spoilt your ballot papers or package you can obtain a replacement from the Shire Office—please bring in any papers you do have so we may account for the originally issued documents.

Postal votes may be hand delivered to an Electoral Officer at the Irwin Rec Centre before 6pm on Election Day.

Photographer Visits the Shire of Irwin

A professional photographer was in town this weekend to take some promotional shots at various locations for tourism and marketing purposes, thanks to Australia’s Coral Coast, the Midwest Development Commission and Department of Regional Development through their Royalties for Regions program.


The Irwin Rec is now taking registrations for Gymnastics in Term 4. Gymnastics will begin in week 2 of Term 4, on Monday 21 October.

Toddler Time

Toddler Time is recommencing at the Irwin Rec on Thursday 24 October 2013, 9:30-10:30am, open to children aged 0 - 5 years.
