Boxthorn Tagging and Beach Clean Up

The Tidy Towns and Sustainable Communities Committee coordinated a Clean-up Day, combined with boxthorn tagging, last Saturday along the beachfront from the river estuary to the Fishermans Memorial. We couldn’t have asked for better weather and the turn-out was impressive. Community members of all ages participated and filled over a dozen rubbish bags and tagged the boxthorn shrubbery in the vicinity to be sprayed by the Shire’s works crew. We would like to thank all participants for their enthusiasm and hard work.

Walking a Dog in a Public Place

A reminder to all dog owners that dogs must be kept on a leash in all public places, except dog exercise areas. However, in a dog exercise area dog(s) must be accompanied by a person who is capable of controlling the dog(s) at all times. A leash is to be carried by that person for the purpose of controlling the dog(s) if the need arises.

Dog excrement  must be disposed of by the controller of the dog, otherwise a fine may be issued. Pooch pouches and bins are located in various public places, including dog exercise areas.

We simply ask that owners be prepared by taking pooch pouches with them when walking their dog, have an appropriate leash for use when required and to be aware of appropriate exercise areas.

Please contact the Ranger on 9927 0000 for more information or visit our website to view a map of dog exercise areas in our Shire.
