Digital TV

Reminder to residents that the analogue TV signal will be cut off on 25 June 2013 as per the Federal governments recent promotional flyers.

Constitutional Recognition of Local Government

Council’s across the country have been calling for a referendum to have local government recognised in the Australian Constitution, and it has recently been announced that a referendum will be held at the time of the September federal election.

The Shire of Irwin has recently demonstrated their support of the change and the request for a referendum. The change involves an amendment to Section 96 of the Constitution so that it would read; “Parliament may grant financial assistance to any state or local government body formed by or under a law of a state or territory”.

Should you wish to find out more, please visit our website and check out the flyer in latest news.
