National Volunteer Week

As part of the National Volunteer Week the Shire is holding a ‘Thank a Volunteer Function’ at the Irwin Recreation Centre on Wednesday, 15 May 2013 from 5.30pm - 7.00pm. All Community and Sporting Groups and Not-for-profit organisations are invited to nominate a maximum a two members to attend. All enquiries and RSVP’s are to be directed to our Manager Community Services, Mrs Coralie Palmer by Thursday, 10 May 2013.

Pensioner/Senior Rates Rebate

If you hold a current Pensioner Concession Card, State Concession Card, WA Seniors Card or a Commonwealth Seniors Health Card – you may be entitled to a  rebate on your rates. In order to be eligible for a concession you need to own and occupy the property as your ‘ordinary place of residence’ as of 1 July of the current financial year and possess the correct concession cards. You could also be eligible for a rebate on your water rates. Please contact the Shire of Irwin Rates Department to see if you qualify on 9927 0000 or visit the office with a valid concession card.

Foreshore Master Plan

Thank you to all those who attended the Foreshore Master Plan workshop’s held on Thursday, 4 April 2013. We are currently confirming a date for the next Community Consultation Workshops to be held in mid May, which will be used to discuss the draft Concept Plan. Confirmed dates and times will be advertised in further issues of the Rag and via our Facebook page.

The Shire is on Facebook, we are using this as a way to get quick information out in the public and keep you informed as much as possible. Please ‘like’ us to ensure that our posts appear in your news feed. Any feedback and questions in relation to Shire activities are also invited via the Facebook page.

ANZAC Day Service

It is ANZAC Day this   Thursday, 25 April 2013. The RSL club will be holding two services, the first being a dawn service at the Memorial Park at 6.00am followed by a complimentary ‘Gunners breakfast’. The second will begin with an ANZAC Day March commencing at the Newsagency from 10.45 followed by the service at the Memorial Park
