Town Maintenance Staff

Members of the public are reminded to please be mindful when approaching Shire staff whilst they are working around town, particularly when they are operating machinery or equipment.  This is for your safety as well as theirs.

Please also be aware that maintenance staff are not able to action on the spot requests from members of the public however we are happy to consider any requests and listen to any concerns.

Should you wish to raise any concerns or requests with staff the best course of action is to call the Shire Admin on 9927 0000. From here a formal customer service request can be made which will ensure timely and informed actions.

Any calls received after hours will be forwarded to the Call Centre. Your query will then be directed to the appropriate duty officer if immediate action is required or referred for attention on the next business day.

Greyhound Service Ceases Perth - Broome

Greyhound Australia has announced that as of the 8 March 2013, the Perth to Broome bus service will discontinue. Refunds will be provided to all passengers booked to travel after 8 March. Should you have any concerns in regards to the changes you can call 1300 473 946 or email 

Integrity Coach Service

Effective as of Sunday 17th February Integrity will cease to operate daily to and from Perth via Indian Ocean Drive. The Perth/Port Hedland service and Perth/Exmouth via Brand Highway will still operate.  Timetables are available at the Visitors Centre.

Recognising Local Government in the Constitution

To coincide with the recently announced federal election date (14 September 2013), it is possible there will be a referendum to recognise local government in the Constitution.

A preliminary report of the  Parliamentary Joint Select Committee on Constitutional Recognition of local Government has been released recommending that the Government engage with the States to secure their support for a referendum proposal including an educational campaign.
