Australia Day Celebrations

Congratulations and well done to all volunteers and participants involved in the Australia Day celebrations at the foreshore on Saturday. It was a great success.

As part of the formal program we recognised several groups and individuals who were nominated in the Premiers Active Citizenship Awards. Well done to Craig Forsyth and the Dongara Veterans Football Club for being the recipients of the Premier’s Active Citizenship Awards for 2013.

A ceremony was also held to welcome two new Australians in a Citizenship ceremony following their pledge of commitment to Australia. Congratulations to Mr Okezie and Miss Bich Van Chu.

Disabled Fishing Platform

Please note that the disabled fishing platform will be closed 4-8 February due to renovations.

Changes to Littering Laws

Please note that there are new Littering Laws that are now in affect. You could be fined  $200 for littering cigarette butts or littering from a vehicle. The fines have increased to $500 for littering that creates a public risk. These laws are there to protect our environment and livelihoods. Littering cigarette butts is a large contributor to the cause of bushfires. If you would like to find out more visit . See more in the Dongara Rag in the coming weeks.
