Community Groups for the Operations of the Dongara Denison Drive In

The Shire of Irwin is seeking a Community Group to take on the operations of the Dongara Denison Drive In.

Any Community Group interested in undertaking these operations, please go to the 'Volunteering' page on the Shire of Irwin website (www.irwin.wa.gov.au), in order to access the selection criteria. Submissions are to be made in writing and sent to the address below by no later than 12pm on Monday 17 July 2017. CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS FOR THE IRWIN RIVER RE-VEGETATION PLANTING DAY CHURCH STREET LOOKOUT 8:30AM SAT 22 JULY 2017 

Tidy Towns Sustainable Committee
Northern Agricultural Catchments Council

The Shire of Irwin's Tidy Towns Sustainable Committee are looking for volunteers for the Irwin River Re-vegetation Planting Day to meet at the Church Street Lookout on Saturday 22 July 2017 at 8.30am, with an expected finishing time of 10:30am.

Seeds for this project were collected from the banks of the Irwin River by Tidy Towns volunteer, Trish Parker, and have been grown to seedlings at a permaculture farm. The funds for this project were granted to the Committee by NACC. The re-vegetation will replace weeds that have been removed from the area with the help our local volunteers. Wattandee Elders will give a 'Welcome to Country' to start the day.

AGEING IN PLACE UNIT DEVELOPMENT

Consultation Wednesday 19 July 2017 in the Ocean Room at the Irwin Recreation Centre 11am.

The Shire wish to invite the community to view the concept designs and provide feedback for a new development of units located at 2 Henry Road. The two bedroom units will be built and available for private rental in 2018 and are designed as independent living units allowing for ageing in place, dementia and disability living. These units will be owned and operated by the Shire of Irwin.

Designs will be available on the Shire's website from the 12 July, you can provide written feedback to the below officer or attend the consultation on the 19 July. Feedback closes 4pm on the 19 July.

2017/18 DRAFT BUDGET AVAILABLE FOR INSPECTION

The Shire of Irwin is pleased to advise that the 2017/18 Draft Budget is available for public comment and can be accessed on the Shire's website www.irwin.wa.gov.au or at the Council Offices at 11-13 Waldeck Street, Dongara. Community Members are encouraged to obtain a copy of the document and provide comments to Council.

Comments on the draft budget may be submitted to the Shire in writing to PMB 21, Dongara WA 6525 or by email to reception@irwin.wa.gov.au and will be accepted until 12 noon Monday, 17 July 2017.

  

TRANSFER STATION - NEW OPENING & CLOSING TIMES

To improve the service of the Transfer Station to the community, the Shire will be increasing the opening hours commencing Monday 10 July 2017. Please be advised of the following changes to the opening and closing times for the Transfer Station:

Monday to Friday       7:30am - 2:30pm

Saturday & Sunday    9:00am - 2:00pm

Public Holidays          9:00am - 2:00pm

PORT DENISON FORESHORE MAINTENANCE

The Shire of Irwin wishes to advise residents that a number of maintenance projects will take place along the Port Denison Foreshore throughout June and July as part of a scheduled maintenance program.

The works will include improving the footpath pavement and connectivity along the foreshore, carpark line marking, kerbing repairs, garden revegetation and improvements to public amenities.

Members of the community are requested to exercise caution and obey all warning signs and directions from authorised Shire personnel and contractors during this time.

The Shire of Irwin apologises for any inconvenience these works may cause.
