New Organisational Structure

On Monday, 2 July 2012, the Shire saw the introduction of a new organisational structure that is designed to provide more efficient and effective service delivery to our customers, stakeholders and partners by clarifying the lines of responsibility and accountability across all Shire service areas.

Briefly, the restructure will see the Shire administration comprise 2 directorates (being (1) Corporate and Community and (2) Planning and Infrastructure) as well as the Office of the CEO.

Mr Geoff Peddie, as Director Corporate and Community, will lead a management team comprising Mrs Coralie Palmer (Manager Community Services), Mrs Helen Sternick (Manager Corporate Services), Ms Nicole Nelson (Manager Tourism and Library Services) and Mr Laurie Smith (Manager Recreation Services).

In addition to the Office of the CEO (comprising the CEO, Executive Assistant and Research/Projects Officer positions), I will lead the Planning and Infrastructure Directorate’s management team comprising Mr Glenn Coaker (Manager Planning Services), Mr Felix Neuweiler (Manager Community Safety) and Mr Aaron Wootton (Manager Works).

More information on the Shire’s exciting new management structure will be announced over the coming weeks. In the meantime, congratulations and best wishes go to all the members of the Shire’s new management team and I look forward to working with you all in the best interests of Council and the Irwin Community.

NAIDOC Week celebrations are held across Australia each July to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. NAIDOC stands for the National Aborigines and Islanders Day Observance Committee. Its origins can be traced to the emergence of Aboriginal groups in the 1970s which sought to increase awareness in the wider community of the status and treatment of Indigenous Australians. NAIDOC is celebrated not only in Indigenous communities, but by Australians from all walks of life
