Local Laws Discussion Paper

Shire of Irwin staff have prepared a Discussion Paper to assist the community in understanding the Local Law Review process, provide detail on the existing local laws and outline staff’s research to-date. Any feedback received from the community will be considered to form a final recommendation by officers and will be presented to Council at a future Council meeting in 2016.

Council resolved to review all of its Local Laws to determine whether or not the Laws should be repealed, amended or remade.

A copy of the Local Laws may be inspected or obtained from the Shire Administration (between 8:30am – 4:30pm weekdays) upon request or can be downloaded from the Shire’s website at, along with the Discussion Paper.

Submissions regarding these Local Laws may be provided by email to or in writing to;

Chief Executive Officer
Shire of Irwin
PMB 21

Submissions close at 12 noon, Monday, 21 December 2015.

Should Council resolve not to appeal, amend or remake any local laws then the review process is complete and no further action is required. However, should Council resolve to repeal, amend or remake a Local Law then the process to do so must be undertaken in the same manner as adoption of a Local Law. This will provide members of the public to review any proposed new or amended Local Laws and provide further comment prior to Council consideration.

Please contact Erin Greaves, Coordinator Executive Services on 9927 0000 or email for further information on the review or the local law making process.
