Rubbish Collection

Toxfree are now providing the Shire of Irwin with a 5 days a week rubbish collection service, which may mean there will be changes to your collection days. Please see detail of changes below;

Monday

Commercial – No change to current route schedule.

Tuesday

Residential – South of Irwin River, streets on the west side of Point Leander Drive including; Point Leander Drive to Bleinham, Clarkson St, Bungaru Rd, Ocean Dve (to Richardson Rd), Dawson Ave, Sundew Ave and Pearse Road, The Retreat and surrounding streets (All Encompassing) and Ayelia Parkway.

Wednesday

Commercial – No Change to current route schedule.

Residential – North of Dongara at Bookara Road East on Brand Highway, Bonniefield Road to Old Irwin Townsite and back to Bookara Road West on Brand Highway including Moreton Bay Estate (All Encompassing)

Thursday

Residential – South of Irwin River - East Side including Saint Dominics Road, Francis Road, Blenheim Road, then the rest of Port Denison south of Golf Course Road plus Ocean Drive south of Richardson Road (All Encompassing).

Friday

Commercial – No Change to current route schedule.

Residential – West of Brand Highway, North of Irwin River - Dongara (All Encompassing)

It is suggested that you ensure your bin is on the verge ready for collection prior to 6am of your scheduled collection day.

If you are unclear on whether there will be a change to your service please contact the Shire Administration or visit our website to view the route map which outlines the relevant scheduled routes.

Council Elections – Nominations Open

NOMINATIONS OPEN on Thursday, 3 September 2015.

NOMINATIONS CLOSE at 4.00pm on Thursday, 10 September 2015.

Nominations must be lodged with the Returning Officer

  • at any time during the above period by arrangement;
  • or between 2:00pm and 4:00pm Thursday, 10 September 2015 (close of nominations) at the Shire of Irwin, 11-13 Waldeck Street DONGARA WA 6525.

NOMINATION REQUIREMENTS

Candidates are required to lodge with the Returning Officer:

  • a completed nomination in the prescribed form, signed and witnessed. (This form is available from the Returning Officer, the Western Australian Electoral Commission or the Shire of Irwin;
  • a single A4 page profile containing not more than 150 words of information about the candidate;
  • a nomination deposit of $80 (cash, bank cheque or postal order); and
  • a recent passport-sized photograph (optional).

The Commission has developed an online system called Nomination Builder to assist candidates to complete their nomination form which includes the candidate profile. This is the preferred method of completing the nomination form and profile for elections conducted by the Commission. Candidates complete their nomination details and profile, print the completed form which has a reference number allocated and lodge it with the Returning Officer. The nomination builder can be accessed at elections.wa.gov.au

Where an agent lodges a nomination on a candidate’s behalf, it must be in the prescribed form with a written authorisation signed by the candidate.

The documents may be hand delivered, posted or faxed to the Returning Officer and must be received by the close of nominations.

BMX Track Removal and Skate Park Clean Up

The Shire of Irwin Recreation Needs Analysis, prepared by A Balanced View Leisure Consultancy Services, made two recommendations for the BMX Track- Skate Park Precinct.

Recommendation 12; Remove the BMX Track and conduct some landscaping to beautify the area and provide a buffer between the skate park and residential housing.

Recommendation 13; Investigate the installation of portable ramps onto the outdoor hard courts focussed towards BMX riders.

Draft Local Planning Policy – Developer Contributions for Upgrades to Roads and Footpaths

Notice is hereby given that the local government of the Shire of Irwin has prepared a Draft Local Planning Policy for Developer Contributions for Upgrades to Roads & Footpaths.

The draft policy is available for inspection at the Shire office or on the Shire website www.irwin.wa.gov.au (under the Planning tab). Comments on the proposal may be submitted to the Shire in writing (email is acceptable) on or before 12pm Monday, 5 October 2015.

Junior Squash

Please note that the start date and times for Junior Squash has changed to Monday, 12 October 4:30 – 5:30pm. This time will include an hour of skills and games. It will be held over a four week block and is $16 per child.
