Road Closure (Dongara Downs)

In accordance with Section 58 of the Land Administration Act 1997, notice is hereby given of the proposed closure of the unconstructed road adjacent and to the east of Lots 1771 and 1289 Wye Farm Road.

A copy of the plan showing the portion of the unconstructed road reserve to be closed is available for inspection at the Shire of Irwin offices, 13 Waldeck Street, Dongara during office hours up to and including Monday 31 August 2015. Alternatively, a copy can be viewed on the Shire’s website at under the Planning tab.

Any submissions on the proposed road closure must be received by the Shire in writing by no later than 12 noon on Monday, 31 August 2015.

Fracking Expo – Onshore Energy Community Information Day

Further to the Council resolution at the May Ordinary Meeting, the Shire of Irwin will be facilitating a Fracking Expo on Wednesday, 2 September 2015 between 2-7pm at the Irwin Recreation Centre. The event will involve all interested stakeholders and members of our community will be provided the opportunity to attend.

Recommencement of Obelisk Precinct Works

The Shire of Irwin would like to advise of its intent to recommence the Obelisk Precinct Works on Wednesday, 29 July 2015, subject to budget approval at the July Ordinary Council meeting.

These works will include the modification of existing kerbing to align with the Council adopted plan for the area, installation of required bitumen treatments, line marking, installation of footpaths as well as necessary preparation works for revegetation of the area.

Further information on the work is available on the Shire’s website at, including a copy of the concept plans.

The area may be temporarily inaccessible to vehicles and pedestrians as required between 29 July – 26 August 2015 to ensure the works can occur without interruption and the community’s safety is assured. Please adhere to safety and traffic signage in the area.

The Shire of Irwin received notice from NBN Co of its intention to commence the roll out of the telecommunications network within the shire district.

Gymnastics – Term 3

The Irwin Rec is now taking registrations for Gymnastics participants in Term 3 starting 27 and 28 July 2015 (pre-kindy gymnastics will start 3 August 2015).

Mixed Social Badminton and Mixed Indoor Soccer

Come down for a game of Mixed Social Badmington on a Thursday evening from 6pm – cost is $5 a week and all ages and skill levels are welcome. There are experienced players available to teach you each week if desired.

Register your interest for Mixed Indoor Soccer, starting Wednesday, 22 July. This is a 5-a-side indoor soccer game that is fast and fun. Cost is $40 per team per week (maximum 8 players per team).
