This resolution is subject to any written law and any law of the Commonwealth about assistance animals as defined in the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 (Commonwealth) section 9(2).

The only change to previous areas was the introduction of an area at the Irwin River Estuary beach, where dogs now need to be kept on a leash to protect the fauna inhabiting this vicinity.

To ensure the continuation of the walk tracks along the foreshore it is acceptable to walk dogs along the footpath at ‘Grannies Beach’, subject to the dogs being kept on a leash.

Similarly dogs can be walked along the South Beach prohibited area to the dog exercise further south as long the dogs are on a leash and the dogs are only traversing the area.
