Bushfire Risk Planning Coordinator 

The Government of Western Australia (WA) is implementing the Bushfire Risk Management Planning (BRMP) program across WA. The program is responsible for the development and implementation of ‘tenure-blind’ whole of Shire Bushfire Risk Management (BRM) Plans. The Shires of Irwin, Coorow and Dandaragan have agreed to participate in this program and seek a Bushfire Risk Planning Coordinator to develop the BRM plans and assist with their implementation.

The Shire of Irwin, under the BRMP LG Grant Agreement, will host the Bushfire Risk Planning Coordinator position, however the successful applicant will be required to work across the Shires of Irwin, Coorow and Dandaragan.

An opportunity exists for an enthusiastic and experienced person to become an integral part of three organisations and communities experiencing substantial growth. Applicants will have emergency management knowledge and an understanding of the roles and responsibilities of bushfire-related organisations.

This is a full time position on a fixed contract basis ending on 30 June 2019 with a possibility of extension or permanency. Regional travel will be required. A vehicle and mobile phone will be made available for use for the duration of the contract.


This is a full-time, contract position with a negotiated salary package of up to $111,590 per annum (depending on qualifications and experience). Additional benefits include a 19-day month, professional development and restricted private use of a vehicle. Other benefits and employment conditions are in accordance with the Local Government Industry Award 2010 and the National Employment Standards.
