Overview
Council employs three full time officers to carry out the Shire's Town Planning, Building and Health Services.
The development of the Shire is booming and it keeps our officers very busy.
If you have any queries in relation to our Town Planning, Building or Health Services our officers would be happy to discuss them with you and explain how they may apply to your property.
The best approach is to make an appointment to discuss an outline of your proposal in the early stages of planning your development. You will then be advised what is required for a formal application.

Dongara Cape Burney Coastal Planning Strategy
The Department of Planning has started a coastal planning project in response to growing landowner uncertainty and pressure for subdivision and development of large rural properties along the strip of coastline between Dongara (Shire of Irwin) and south of Cape Burney (City of Geraldton-Greenough). Planning guidance based on environmental and coastal analysis is required in order to manage development pressures, identify opportunities and to guide usage and management of this section of coast.
The Community will have a number of opportunities to be involved, such as the initial consultation phase and a formal submissions period at the completion of the draft strategy.
