Council advertises all employment vacancies in the Dongara Denison Local Rag and tenders are advertised in The West Australian and the Local Rag.

The Shire of Irwin currently has no tenders.

SENIOR PLANNING OFFICER (FULL-TIME, FIXED-TERM - 12 MONTHS)

The Senior Planning Officer is responsible for the implementation and review of the Shire’s Planning framework and objectives with consideration of statutory and strategic requirements for the future development of the Shire. The role includes assessment and approval of development applications under delegated authority, as well as strategic community liaison and statutory reporting.

REGULATORY SUPPORT OFFICER (PART-TIME, PERMANENT)

The Regulatory Support Officer will provide administrative and professional support to the Manager Regulatory Services to ensure quality and timely delivery of programs, technical assessments and projects, including but not limited to processing and issuing of permits, licences and approvals.

CUSTOMER SERVICE OFFICER (PART-TIME, PERMANENT)

The Customer Service Officer (CSO) is a valued member of the Customer Services Team who is responsible for providing a high standard of customer service in accordance with the Shire’s standards, procedures and policies. The CSO will assist operational areas of the organisation by providing administrative and service delivery support.

CASUAL EMPLOYMENT POOL

Expressions of Interest

The Shire of Irwin invites suitably qualified and experienced candidates to register their interest in future casual vacancies at the Shire of Irwin that may arise. Positions may vary from time-to-time, dependent on current organisational needs.

Our Casual Employment Pool is designed for you to register your interest for general consideration. Should any suitable opportunities arise that fit your abilities, you may be contacted to undergo a further merit-based selection.

Expressions of Interest will be stored in our database for 6 months, after which time you will be required to resubmit your interest. Should you wish to withdraw your application please email hr@irwin.wa.gov.au.

Applicants will ideally have relevant qualifications and experience for the positions. However, the Shire will consider all applications and provide necessary training where applicable. It is expected that all applicants can demonstrate:

-           Good level of communication skills – interpersonal, written and verbal;

-           Basic level of numeracy and literacy skills;

-           Basic organisational and time management skills;

-           Ability to work as an effective team member;

-           Basic knowledge of customer service practices; and

-           Basic knowledge of local government responsibilities.

Applicants must be permanent residents of Australia or be able to demonstrate permission to work in Australia.

Appointed employees may be required to undertake a pre-placement medical, submit a valid Police Clearance (completed within the last 3 months) prior to commencing employment and adhere to the Shire’s Code of Conduct and agreed Values and Behaviours.

Current Positions (Casual Employment Pool)

The Shire is seeking Expressions of Interest in the Casual Employment Pool for suitably qualified and experienced candidates to register for the following roles: Operations Officer and Community Housing Officer.  

OPERATIONS OFFICER

The Operations Officer will ensure that Asset operations and associated maintenance and construction are carried out efficiently and effectively and to a high standard at all times. They must strive for continuous improvement in the workplace and provide efficient, friendly and confidential customer service whilst being helpful and courteous to other Shire staff, Councillors and the public. The Operations Officer shall participate as an active member of the team in providing sound and timely advice to the Operations Team and other internal teams.

COMMUNITY HOUSING OFFICER

The Community Housing Officer will be the first point of contact for all enquiries relating to the management of Shire-owned community housing, particularly aged accommodation. The role will have a strong focus on quality customer service delivery, asset maintenance and the establishment of appropriate policies, guidelines and procedures for the effective and efficient management of the relevant facilities.
