At the ordinary Council meeting on Tuesday 27 November 2012, the Shire of Irwin formally adopted the Shire of Irwin Access and Inclusion Plan 2012-2017. The Disability Services Act (1993) was amended in December 2004, and now requires public authorities to develop and implement Disability Access and Inclusion Plans (DAIPs).
Access and Inclusion is about ensuring that all public services, facilities and information is available to all community members, including those who have a disability, so that they have the opportunity and choice to participate in all aspects of community life.
If you would like further information on DAIPS or require information in an alternative format (audio, electronic, large print) there is information on the Disability Services website www.dsc.wa.gov.au or contact the Shire Office on 9927 0000.
The vision for an accessible and inclusive community concentrates on six key areas:
We are committed to ensure that appropriate universal access is available to the community through all its functions. To assist achievement of this objective, the Shire in partnership with key external stakeholders, has developed the Disability Access and Inclusion Plan, to view the Shire of Irwin's Disability Access and Inclusion Plan please click here.
